Solo Exhibition: Scenery in Dim Light

I held my first solo exhibition, “Faint Light Landscapes (August 4–26, 2012),” at Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo in Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. In this show, I presented a series of drawings centered on the theme of fleeting, ephemeral scenes—shadows that appear and vanish, and the transient, daydream-like landscapes that emerge when light and darkness mingle.
−Artist Statement
When I work in my studio at night, I often witness the landscape transitioning from night into morning. In the darkness of night, all forms merge into a single, vast shadow. Yet as dawn approaches and faint light begins to filter in, that unified shadow gradually fragments into distinct shapes.
I wish to express these personal landscapes bathed in faint light. A “faint light landscape” is, in essence, an ephemeral, dream-like scene born at the moment when light and darkness intermingle. In such moments, humans and nature intertwine and continuously transform—much like the characters in myths or fairy tales. Each of these landscapes connects gently as if it were a single scene in a larger narrative, eventually forming several intertwined stories.
