Beyond the Wall, at the Edge of Dreams
A wall is a boundary that separates this side from the other.
It can offer a place of refuge, yet also become a restriction. It can protect, and it can conceal.
When standing before a wall, I think of what might lie beyond it. I imagine the scenery that may be spreading out on the other side.
Or perhaps there is nothing there at all. Still, I continue to imagine.
There must be a landscape there, one that has not yet become words.
I call that mist-covered landscape a dream.
Through drawing, the dream takes shape, gains words, and begins to weave a small story.
A story on the shore of dreams.
About the Works
In my recent work, I have been deeply influenced by picture books, children’s literature, comics, and antique objects.
They serve as important points of reference in my practice, where images, words, and stories are closely intertwined.
Motifs that I have returned to over the years, such as children, masks, interiors, forests, lakes, and stars, often appear in my works. To me, these motifs are images that seem to exist like fragments of a story.
